About Eduardo Martinez
I am a proud member of the 3rd largest Parks Department in the United States. I have been with Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and, Open Spaces Department for 38 years. I started my career as a camp counselor fresh out of High school. During my 38 years in the department, I have accomplished many goals. Some of the highlights are as follows:1. Started a summer camp with over 50 kids at McMillan Park Increased enrollment in summer camp from 90 kids to 200+. Started an afterschool care that average 200 kids daily with 5 vans on the road doing pickups at Continental Park Over revenue on top of the projected budgeted amount.3. Coordinated Congressman Tom Daly\' visit with the US Capitol police to the Cuban Memorial at Tamiami Park. Worked the secret service and coordinated President George W. Bush\'s visit to the National Hurricane Center. Became a NAYS Clinician and trained over coaches because of ordinances that were passed by the Board of County commissioners. the construction of the soccer fields and the field house at Millers Pond as well as the improvements to Millers Pond Park. Created a positive relationship with residents in the Millers Pond Community to tackle their concerns and make sure that the park was a good neighbor while providing much needed programming for children. Tamiami, Hammocks and Millers Pond Park (20•••••64. Became the Chapter Director for NAYS and a Certified Youth Sports Administrator. Increased revenues at the tennis center. helped implement the RMS system. Was involved in the leasing of the tennis center to a private operator. Helped with growing the softball leagues and increasing field rentals. Helped with the football stadium and oversight of the boxing program. Tropical Park (20•••••05. Oversee 49 parks, 7 stewardship managers, 2 facility maintenance attendants and 2 semi skilled laborers. Hosted many events to include the largest Jazz in the Heights. Currently part of the team that is constructing a new community center/library in the Richmond West Community giving feedback from am operations view on the design design of the building and surrounding area.Currently tagged as a mentor to up and coming professionals in my division as well as continued involvement with the National Alliance for Youth Sports as the Chapter Director for Miami-Dade County.
