ABOUT ED LEE

Ed Lee, MD, MPH is a board-certified internal medicine physician with a strong track record of leading technology-driven initiatives in healthcare. He currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer at Nabla, a company focused on ambient AI solutions, and as Chair of Clinical Education and Director of Clinical Informatics at California Northstate University College of Medicine.In these roles, Dr. Lee applies his expertise in AI, digital transformation, and healthcare operations to advance patient care and medical education. At Nabla, he oversees the enhancement of ambient AI technologies that streamline clinical workflows and decrease clinician burnout. At California Northstate, he directs efforts to modernize clinical education by embedding cutting-edge digital tools and informatics into the curriculum, preparing future healthcare professionals for a technology-focused industry.Previously, Dr. Lee served as Executive Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer for The Permanente Federation’s National Leadership Team, leading strategic IT initiatives across multiple medical groups. As Associate Executive Director for The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG), he was responsible for operational performance, technology integration, and fostering innovation to enhance care delivery.Throughout his career, Dr. Lee has been instrumental in harnessing technology, including web, mobile, video, and AI platforms, to make healthcare more connected, accessible, and patient-centric. His work has expanded health information access, enhanced decision-support tools for patients, and empowered physicians with advanced technologies to deliver higher-quality, more efficient care.Dr. Lee earned his bachelor’s degree in molecular and cell biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and both his medical degree and master’s degree in public health from Tufts University. He completed his residency in internal medicine at UC Davis. Motivated by the potential of technology to transform healthcare, he remains dedicated to integrating AI, informatics, and human-centered design to support better patient outcomes and more effective clinical education.
