About Edison Yang

I am a current Senior at Marist High School, Im passoniate about Finance, Biochemistry, and Buisness. I am a first-generation student and QuestBridge National College Match Scholar, and committed to the University of Notre Dame. Growing up in an immigrant, working-class family and working long hours in my family’s restaurant has shaped how I see opportunity, responsibility, and community. I’m fluent in both English and Mandarin, and I’m passionate about using education to build a more equitable future for families like mine.My interest in Economics stems from my dad’s restaurant in China, where poor financial planning and the SARS outbreak forced my father to close the business. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I helped improve our restaurant’s finances in the U.S. by implementing delivery services, which significantly increased revenue. I want to apply economic analysis to help businesses make smarter financial decisions and achieve the stability my family once lacked. One day, I’ll help my parents revive their restaurant back in China.Academically, I’ve pursued a rigorous course load including taking 8 APs and 7 duel enrollment courses. I have a 4.52 W GPA, and 4.1 UW; My average AP scores have been 4.25 as an AP Scholar with Honor. At Notre Dame, I plan to explore economics, finance, data science, and molecular biology, with an eye toward work that blends analysis, entrepreneurship, and impact.I’ve been fortunate to receive recognition including QuestBridge Match Scholar (Notre Dame), HSF Young Leaders Summit Scholar, Delta Rotary Student of the Month, Best Country Representative at Oregon Model UN, multiple Science Olympiad medals, and school-based academic and leadership awards.
