About Edina Edie Young

Award-winning nonprofit founder and executive director, and Salisbury University undergraduate studying elementary education with a minor in special education.Striving to be a special education teacher who makes every student feel seen, supported, and safe.I hope to use culturally reponsive teaching in my future classroom.Outside academics, I spend a lot of time working and volunteering with youth. In 2019, I founded and now run a nonprofit called We Are Artistic; it’s a group of 100+ volunteers across the globe that supports artists, and people who appreciate art. We use art to uplift others by designing handmade cards for kids in hospitals, working to end the r word and through many more amazing projects.    Lead operations and delegate tasks. Have done various tasks for the organization, such as social media and outreach tasks and creating graphics Appoint and mentor department directors and team leads, fostering strong leadership and cross-team collaboration Collaborate with 4+ team leads and directors to cultivate a supportive and inclusive environment for 200+ volunteers and members Co‑secure and manage partnerships with organizations such as Riverdale Park Station and Best Buddies in Virginia & DC, strengthening community impact and expanding program reach. Co-Lead a high‑impact service program generating 400+ verified student hours, formally approved by DC Public Schools and multiple other districts We have supported over artists and creatives, and regularly host impactful events such as card-making event and “Spread the Word to End the Word” campaign events. To date, we’ve hosted more than 10 successful events Achieved media recognition through features on multiple local news stations, including Good Morning Washington and WUSA9 enhancing the organization’s visibility
