About Eden D. Peterson
How I went from ballerina to business leader. I started taking ballet lessons at age 4 which led to the next 20 years of my life dedicated to a serious study of the art, including a stint professionally. From an early age I learned self-discipline, work hard, and determination. I thrived in environments where perfection was required and performed best under a bit of pressure. My Introduction to Business I spent my post-dance and post-undergrad years managing a language training department with 60+ employees. You name a language, we taught it. I was thrown into the world of management and quickly learned how to hire the right people and unify them around a vision to get things done. I learned how to design customer journeys and improve their experience via data collection and feedback. It was my first real exposure to the business world and I was hooked. My Business Pivot I went back to school for an MBA at BYU. Business school was the perfect place for me to develop business acumen and gain exposure to different industries. While in school, I interned in management consulting with PriceWaterhouseCoopers and was also selected to be part of BYU’s student-led venture fund, Cougar Capital. Consulting and venture capital were jobs with the perfect mix of fast-paced strategy, analysis, and relationship-building on high-performing teams, all with the pressure and performance aspects I knew and loved from ballet. My Strengths I am an achiever. I feel a strong sense of ownership around projects and results. I have a natural ability to manage teams and create clear visions that others will champion. I excel at coordinating efforts to solve problems and complete projects on-time and above standard. I thrive in environments with high expectations and work well with people who don’t settle for mediocre and are hustling to accomplish great things.
