HMI’s Youth Services Department is comprised of various tracks: Clinical and Counseling Services, Services to Homeless Youth, Academic Enrichment, Health and Wellness, Arts and Culture, and Job Readiness. Masters-Level interns are assigned to roles, but interface with staff across departments. This provides interns an opportunity to collaborate on a multi-disciplinary team to best support youth members. HMI serves a diverse youth population, ages 13-24, comprised of various racial/ethnic/cultural backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, sexual and gender identities, health/mental health histories, housing statuses, experiences of trauma/abuse, educational levels, and developmental levels. Most HMI young people are low-income youth of color.
