BIS liaison to Treasury Department providing export control, technology transfer, and industrial base input on Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) Declarations and Non-Notified Transactions to determine whether foreign investment transactions fall within the new Critical and Emerging Technologies regulations.* Serve on CFIUS interagency committee which reviews foreign acquisitions of U.S. companies in strategic sectors for its potential impact on the U.S. industrial base and national security. As a CFIUS team lead for Declarations and Non-Notified transactions, I coordinate new cases with the Treasury Department and assign cases to staff. In addition, I draft and clear interagency memoranda and export control letters signed by the Assistant Secretary within the imposed deadline of 30 days. If a proposed transaction requires additional review due to interagency concerns, the acquisition is forwarded for an additional 45-day review (i.e, Presidential Review).* Coordinate the interagency review process that provides U.S. government advocacy for U.S. companies competing for foreign defense procurements and provided recommendations to U.S. senior officilas and Embassies worldwide. If there is an interagency concern, I coordinate interagency meetings to discuss potential compromises to those concerns whether that requires eliciting additional information from U.S. industry or from U.S. Embassy team (Foreign Commercial Service / Office of Defense Cooperation / Foreign Service Office). Cultivated an expertise with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Advocated for $99 billion of defense project value in 2015.* Awarded Bronze Medal in Oct 2017 for work performed in support of CFIUS reform.* Possess USG TS/SCI clearance.
