Not afraid to get his hands dirty (or occasionally his feet wet), Ed is a senior web and front end developer who enjoys learning new technologies, provided they’re useful, well-designed or genuinely fun.With a degree in Computer Science and experience spanning freelance, consultancy, leadership and full-time roles, Ed has worked across startups, scale-ups, public sector and global organisations. His work ranges from large-scale web applications and design systems to performance-critical websites and accessibility-focused UI.Ed has contributed to and reviewed multiple web development books, and is often brought into existing products to stabilise codebases, untangle complex front end problems and help teams ship confidently.Away from the web, Ed has run the Edinburgh Marathon, abseiled down a lighthouse for charity, captained his local Scottish rugby team and somehow survived six years living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area, returning home largely due to the absence of Irn-Bru.He now lives in East Lothian with his wife Rose and their three sons. Ed likes cake, bacon, golf, rugby, basketball, cider, movies and talking about himself in the third person.
