Ed Harris is a former Deputy Commander, 50th Mission Support Group and Squadron Commander in the Air Force having served as principle advisor, providing daily oversight of security, civil engineering, fire protection, environmental management, personnel, logistics, contracting, base services & housing support.Lt Col Harris has previously served as Chief, Space Programs Branch, Financial Management Directorate, HQ Air Force Space Command. He was responsible for developing the Command’s 5-yr $65B Program Objective Memorandum, overseeing a diverse portfolio of funding rqmnts to include Navigation, Missile Warning, Space Situational Awareness, Space Control, MILSATCOM, Launch Ops, and other mission areas. He also commanded the 17th Comptroller Squadron, responsible for budget formulation, justification, and execution of a $100M+ prgm & supporting over 14K joint & total force members annually. Lt Col Harris also served as Budget Analyst for Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), where he conducted analysis of the Command’s $3.8B O&M budget. He led the development of financial execution plans, distribution, & fiscal year-end closeout, impacting over FM personnel. Lt Col Harris held the position of Action Officer, Commander’s Action Group, HQ Air Education and Training Command (AETC), where he served as speechwriter, orchestrated conferences, & oversaw orientations for all incoming wing commanders. He served as executive officer to the Director of Plans, Programs, Requirements & Assessments, HQ AETC, & Training Systems Acquisition Manager, responsible for space trng rqmnts. He is a former Satellite Instructor & Training Manager of the 533rd Trng Sqdn. Ed Harris also served as mission commander of the 4th Space Ops Sq, providing secure, survivable & tactical comm to warfighters.
