About Ed Godshalk

I enjoy inventing and developing enabling technology, components, and systems in the field of RF and Microwaves. Over the last 30 years, I have worked in developing components and measurement tools at microwave and millimeter frequencies. Value teaching and sharing knowledge with coworkers. Enjoy presenting technical papers and working with colleagues in professional societies. My goal is to be part of a team that is developing new products that make a meaningful contribution to society, while making sense economically. Specialties: Signal Integrity, developing, modeling and measuring of RF and Microwave devices, components, packages and interconnects. Invented wafer probes, automated 1/f noise and Popcorn Noise measurement systems. Developed large signal test system for inductor characterization. Managed development of package modeling tools. Awarded numerous patents in these specialties.

Experience

    Maxim Integrated

Jul 1997 — Present · Beaverton, OR, US

Manage the Electro-Magnetics Group. Design, characterize, model and simulate devices such as inductors, capacitors, interconnects, etc. on integrated circuits at RF and microwave frequencies. Model packages and PCBs including Signal Integrity considerations. Use electro-magnetic simulators (i.e. HFSS, Q3D, Maxwell, etc.) to support design groups throughout Maxim. Create enabling technologies in modeling, metrology and parametric test (PT). Responsible for TR & D microwave measurement lab. Provide metrology expertise in S-parameters and microwave measurements. Most recently involved with characterizing magnetic materials and Power Line Communications for solar cell arrays.
