ABOUT ED GILROY

Ed Gilroy serves as the Chief Advocacy and Public Affairs Officer for the American Trucking Associations (ATA), the nation’s leading organization representing the interests of the trucking industry. He leads ATA’s comprehensive advocacy efforts, promoting a pro-trucking, pro-safety, and pro-efficiency agenda on Capitol Hill, with federal regulators, and in state capitals across the country.He previously held the position of Senior Vice President of Legislative Affairs at ATA, overseeing the organization’s congressional affairs and legislative strategy. This marks Gilroy’s second tenure with ATA, having earlier served as Vice President of Legislative Affairs, where he represented the industry before Congress and federal agencies on matters related to labor, employment, employee benefits, and tax policy.Gilroy brings to the role a wealth of policy expertise shaped by a distinguished career on Capitol Hill, including service as Director of Workforce Policy for Republicans on the House Committee on Education and Labor. In that capacity, he managed the Committee’s workforce agenda, with a focus on labor, health care, pensions, and welfare policy. He also served as a professional staff member for the Committee and as Legislative Director for Representative Rod Chandler of Washington State.His experience extends beyond the public sector. Gilroy has advocated for American manufacturers as part of the National Association of Manufacturers’ Industrial Relations Department and held roles in the private sector with The Equitable Life Assurance Society and Johnson & Higgins, where he advised corporate clients on employee benefit matters, including pension and health/welfare plans.
