About Ed Boyd
Twenty-seven year career law enforcement professional serving with two police organizations. With the Salem, Oregon, Police Department for 19 1/2 years serving in a variety of street, investigative and leadership assignments. Held positions of Officer, Detective, Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Deputy Police Chief. In December, 2005, was chosen as the Chief of Police for the Albany, Oregon, Police Department, and served in that role for 7 1/2 years, retiring in May, 2013. Extensive experience in every functional area that a professional police department provides including Patrol, Detectives, Schools, Gangs, Narcotics, Community Resources, Special Operations and Management Resources. Additionally, spent 10 years with the Salem Police SWAT team in various positions and ultimately served as the Emergency Operations Commander for all special operations teams in the Salem Police Department. Served as one of two task force commanders for the Marion Area Gang and Narcotics Team (MAGNET) which at the time was the largest interagency narcotics and gangs task force in the state. Served as an instructor in Defensive Tactics, Physical Fitness, Use of Force, Active Shooter Awareness, Leadership, and Community Policing and has instructed at the Police Academy and local area colleges. Hold associate and bachelor’s degrees in Business Management and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy (212th session) and FBI Law Enforcement Executive Seminar (59th session). At the time of retirement, held an Executive Certificate through the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training. Served as the Executive Director of the Oregon Accreditation Alliance, the accrediting body for law enforcement and 911 agencies in Oregon and Alaska for 7 years. Shortly after Law Enforcement retirement, started working for Coastal Farm and Ranch and was responsible for ATF Regulatory Compliance and Loss Prevention functions in all twenty-one (21) Coastal Farm Locations in Oregon and Washington. Responsible for ATF Regulatory Compliance audits/training in all Coastal Farm locations each quarter and managing the overall firearms compliance program for Coastal Farm. Conducts internal employee investigations when internal theft issues arise. In February 2023, Coastal Farm and Home supply merged with CAL Ranch Stores and I was offered the position of ATF Regulatory Compliance Director overseeing FFL compliance responsibilities for 54 retail locations in six states. Oversee a team of five compliance professionals and one asset protection analyst.
