ABOUT EBRU SELIN SELEN

I love puzzles. I find getting pieces in different shapes and shades together stimulating, inasmuch as tackling a multi-dimensional problem. It is not by chance that I grew interested in metabolism ages ago, and later I found my place in -omics world; where biochemistry meets instrumentation. I am an avid investigator who designs methodology, sets up end-to-end protocols and assays, collects information from different platforms to understand how enzymes respond to nutritional and/or distress cues. Liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy (LC-MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) are my principal companions. Sharing makes research powerful. I am very open to working with other people and splitting up the steps in projects according to each collaborator’s strength. I am always open to anyone who’d like to learn about running an instrument or want to learn a particular application. I am good at setting up end-to-end protocols in a way that can be adapted by other people and ran successfully. I planted metabolomics methodology within my group; developed various assays and made it available for everyone. I am good at initiating, establishing, and maintaining collaborations. It is a great way to exchange experiences and broaden the horizon of one’s mind.
