ABOUT EHSAN AALAEI

I’m a Ph.D. candidate in Bioengineering at Rice University, where I focus on cancer research at the intersection of engineering and oncology. My work explores innovative technologies to detect and treat cancer, with an emphasis on translational impact. I collaborate closely with clinicians and industry leaders across the Texas Medical Center to move ideas from bench to bedside.Alongside my Ph.D, I’m also pursuing an MBA at Rice to strengthen my understanding of strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship in biotech.I currently serve as the Chair of Professional Development for the Bioengineering Graduate Student Association, leading programs that support students exploring diverse career paths. I’m passionate about mentoring, science communication, and building tools that make lab operations smarter and more efficient.Previously, I earned my MSc from the University of Washington, where I worked on organ-on-chip systems, 3D printing, and microfluidics. That experience helped shape my commitment to solving real healthcare challenges through innovation and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
