About Dyllan E. Linehan
Dyllan\'s primary areas of legal focus are federal Indian law & criminal law. Federal Indian Law Dyllan is committed to serving tribes and tribal members in a number of ways, such as working in the areas of natural and cultural resource protection, environmental regulation and cleanup, as well as gaming, property and economic issues. Having studied American Indian law both as an undergraduate and in law school, he has become familiar and knowledgeable as to the complexities of federal Indian law and is fully committed to protecting the natural and cultural resources of tribes as well as tribal sovereignty. While in law school, Dyllan gained a great deal of experience in directly representing tribal members as defense council in tribal court. After graduating with honors, the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa hired Dyllan as a tribal attorney. Since then, he has assisted the tribe with adding acres to the reservation and has won cases against the WI DNR concerning the non-applicability of Managed Forest Land severance fees to the tribe. Also, in relation to tribal land issues, Dyllan has worked with on reservation easements totalling in the tens of millions of dollars to the tribe. Finally, through his representation as corporate counsel for LCO\'s economic development entities, he has cultivated and honed his ability to ensure that on reservation economic development is done effectively and in a manner which enables the tribe to generate stable long term revenue. Criminal Law Having spent countless hours in the courtroom observing and assisting attorneys, Dyllan has gained a tremendous amount of experience with criminal law and procedure. Having worked in a law office with his father Gene Linehan for many years before and during his undergraduate studies, he gained a unique perspective early on as to the duties and responsibilities of both criminal prosecution as well as defense.
