ABOUT DYLAN FLOOD

I recently graduated Cum Laude from Loyola Marymount University in Political Science and Urban Studies and am excited to advance my career after college. I spent my last summer at LAX Airport with Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) as an Environmental Planning Intern. At LAWA, I expanded my passion for planning and I was inspired (and awestruck) by how the built environment influences our daily lives. I was lucky enough to be at the forefront of LAX’s incredible transformation before the LA 2028 Olympics. Over the past two years, I’ve been at the forefront of civic research in Los Angeles as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Thomas and Dorothy Leavey Center for the Study of Los Angeles (StudyLA). At StudyLA, I’ve completed and presented two independent research projects on social issues affecting Los Angeles. I also assisted in the organization of two Los Angeles Mayoral Debates sponsored by the Center and LMU. Day to day, I have created presentations, formulated research questions and plans, created, organized, and managed a paper to digital data archival system, and more. In addition, I have experience working as a Campaign Intern with Rick Caruso for Mayor 2022. On the campaign, I communicated with voters through text messages, phone calls, door-to-door canvassing, and more. I helped to organize and manage phone banking and town hall events. The Caruso campaign ended up securing over 45% of the vote in the City of Los Angeles. I also worked as an Intern in the Office of Los Angeles City Councilmember Mike Bonin. There, I learned the importance of communicating with constituents and the strength of effective local government. Before moving from Connecticut to LA for college, I spent two years learning the essentials of customer service as a Food Runner and Busser. Working at Luc’s Cafe, I experienced the ins and outs of fast paced restaurant work and grew as a person because of it. I am excited to advance my career and aspire to leave a positive impact on the world through the built environment.
