ABOUT DYLAN MANDEL

Dylan Mandel is a dual-licensed (New York/Pennsylvania) speech-language pathologist. He is a clinical assistant professor at Katz School for Science & Health, Yeshiva University. He is also a clinical supervisor at New York Neurogenic Speech-Language Pathology, P.C. Dylan holds certifications in TSSLD, FEES, NMES, sEMG, MBSImP, and LSVT LOUD. In addition to his passion for speech-language pathology, Dylan has also been a session/touring percussionist of over 25 years.Dylan received his Master of Science from CUNY Hunter College in Speech-Language Pathology and Bachelor of Arts from CUNY Brooklyn College with a double major in Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology and Linguistics. He graduated summa cum laude with the following honors: Brooklyn College Alumni Association Grant, Carol Zicklin Fellowship, Guttman Transfer Scholarship, and Dean’s List. His clinical practicum experiences garnered him a variety of skills across a number of populations, including acute care rehabilitation, AAC implementation, and auditory-verbal treatment on newly activated cochlear implant users. Dylan has also studied Music Performance and Education at the University of Anchorage, Alaska, and Jazz Combo Studies at the Seattle Drum School. Dylan’s most recent research on music and language relations, “The Added Value of Musical Training on Linguistic Syntax Processing” was presented at ASHA in Orlando, FL in November, 2019, as well as CogMIR at Brooklyn College in August, 2019. After presenting his previous work on Tlingit syntax, “The What, When, and Why of Sá – a Probe into the Alaskan Tlingit Interrogative”, Dylan was granted the “Visiting Scholar” invitation to Sealaska Heritage Institute in Juneau, Alaska to continue his research on moribund indigenous languages. He has also worked as a researcher for Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center performing fMRI activation tasks to examine age effects on speech onset for the Boston Naming Test.Dylan has been a longstanding philanthropist. As an undergraduate student, he presided as President of NSSLHA Brooklyn College Chapter organizing charitable events for the chapter’s members. Furthermore, Dylan held seat as a Curriculum Committee Council Member at Brooklyn College’s Department of Communication Sciences where he collaborated with department chairs and graduate program directors in order to assess and revise the college’s Speech-Language Pathology undergraduate program. Other community service contributions include: Team Captain for NYC Walk4Hearing and invited performer/speaker at Power Chord Academy Music Camp for Kids.
