About Dylan Tweed

Hey, gang! I\'m a native of San Diego, California and fortunate enough to have been exposed to a myriad of different cultures, languages, and peoples. Considerable time spent in both Guatemala and Armenia has opened my eyes to the diversity of people on this planet, and shaped my personal and professional aspirations accordingly. On top of those years spent abroad, visits to Mexico, the Bahamas, Georgia (the country), Dubai, France, the Dominican Republic, Peru, Nepal, French Polynesia, Qatar, Kenya, Turkey, and Japan have only deepened my passion for intercultural exchange. As a student at UVU, it was an incredible opportunity to work closely with so many faculty and student scholars in the History and Political Science Department who shared the same passion for people that I have. My studies centered around Intercultural Peacebuilding, especially in regards to the \'everyday peacebuilder\', in schools and in the workplace. My specialties include interfaith relationships, American Civil Rights history, conflict resolution and facilitative mediation, and conflict in the Southern Caucasus. After graduating from UVU, I had the amazing opportunity to use my degree full-time as Expeditions Coordinator for CHOICE Humanitarian. CHOICE is an acronym for \"The Center for Humanitarian Outreach and Inter-Cultural Exchange,\" and has been a global authority in that space for more than 40 years. I took my responsibilities and oversight of the Intercultural Exchange program with great reverence. I believe travel can change the world – At CHOICE I helped facilitate close to 50 Expeditions to Navajo Nation, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, Nepal, and Kenya. I personally led 8 of those Expeditions – visiting rural communities with groups of 12-50 people from outside of the country. We engaged in intercultural exchange, learned, taught, and worked alongside community members on projects that benefitted them directly. I learned valuable lessons on participatory development, and effective altruism. My hobbies include bread-making, food-making, picture-taking, and climbing things. My absolute favorite past-time is spending time and watching movies with my radiant wife, Kirra, who is currently practicing corporate transactional law at Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich, & Rosati in their Palo Alto, California office.I hope to continue my post-graduate studies focusing on cultivating peace within ourselves, and within our global, national, and local communities, with plans of both teaching and practicing peacebuilding at a university level.
