About Dylan Overboe

After receiving a double major degree from UC Santa Barbara, Dylan was eager to dive into the entertainment industry and learn as much as possible. Entry level experience was gained through roles at PBS and Discovery where he assisted in the development of 2 TV shows (In Their Own Words and Inventions That Changed History). This opportunity was the beginning of a mission to gain a \"beginning to end\" understanding of the development process. The end result of this goal was a worker with a full circle development process ranging from script coverage, production, post-production, marketing, and to sales/distribution.Dylan\'s next step was at The Walt Disney Company during an internship designed to provide hands on experience with multiple stages of the production process. This served as the perfect next step to develop into a well-rounded contributor as it allowed further insight into what needed to be accomplished at every stage of development. Being able to identify and solve common issues during the production and post-production process was a valuable asset that was added to Dylan\'s skillset. Having insight into how shows are produced is something that would come back to be an asset for Dylan upon later joining the Sony sales team. Following the completion of this program, Dylan was eager to develop his organizational and interpersonal skills at NBCUniversal as he gained full time experience covering a high level desk at E! News. Importantly, this role served as the next step in Dylan\'s goal to develop a beginning to end understanding on a successful entertainment project by providing a glimpse into the power of social media and marketing. Gaining experience communicating across different teams and identifying ways that marketing and social media can be used to aid a project was a valuable lesson learned at NBCUniversal. Notably, Dylan\'s new role at Sony Pictures Television on the Syndication Sales and Distribution team has completed his first goal of gaining experience in managing a project from inception to distribution. The role on the sales team allows a chance to continue to use his understanding of the development process to ensure that Sony products are being distributed in a way that provides the most value. It also allows a chance to buckle down and plunge into interests related to traditional methods of distribution as well as new emerging forms that might change the industry.
