About Dyamon Brown

My name is Dyamon Brown, and I am currently a third year doctoral student in the clinical psychology program at Texas A&M University. My research interests are focused on exploring how trauma exposure can lead to substance use and suicide among Black adolescents, young adults, and legally involved populations.Throughout my academic journey, I have pursued a wide range of research experiences, including a qualitative psychological autopsy study on suicide in Black communities, analyses of child fatality reports in the United States, and work examining health disparities among vulnerable populations. Collectively, these experiences have strengthened my methodological skills and reinforced my commitment to research that is both rigorous and socially responsive. In addition to my research pursuits, I have worked across multiple systems of care, including providing therapy to adults in jail settings, delivering evidence-based telehealth services to children and adolescents with mental health concerns through Baylor College of Medicine, and supporting clients involved in mental health court within a therapeutic jurisprudence framework. This work has deepened her understanding of the intersection between mental health, trauma, substance use, and structural determinants, such as incarceration, poverty, and systemic inequities.I am also deeply committed to leadership and mentorship, having guided high school and college students towards academic success and personal growth. Through these roles, I have seen the transformative power of mentorship and the importance of a supportive community. As I continue my journey in clinical psychology, I am open to exploring diverse career pathways that allow me to make significant impacts both within and beyond academia (i.e, policy, community-based organizations, healthcare systems, or justice-related settings). I am interested in roles that blend research, clinical practice, and community engagement to foster positive change. My passion, dedication, and diverse experiences have prepared me for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Feel free to reach out to me. I am eager to collaborate, mentor, and/or engage in discussions related to clinical psychology and positive change within our communities!
