Responsible for planning and conducting analyses in broad areas covering work processes, operational practices, needs, and making recommendations related to implement new standard travel processes across the DoD; participate in the development of DoD travel policy, regulations, procedures, and related documents pertaining to permanent duty, temporary duty, evacuation, medical and leave travel for active and reserve Service members, reviewing and evaluating travel allowances and travel pay policies to determine their effectiveness and consistency throughout DoD; serves as a project leader responsible for accomplishing sensitive or long-term special studies, making recommendations for changes in policy issuances and implementing instructions based on these studies; participate in the development, and coordination of DoD travel policy with external entities outside of DoD; including travel and transportation polices, and related financial management policies, reporting requirements, and automated system functional requirements; serve as a liaison or representative on behalf of the Defense Travel Management Office (DTMO)and all DoD components, as well as other Federal Agencies to ensure travel policy and procedures are developed for the DoD agree with statutory and regulatory requirements; and represent the DTMO on work groups comprised of member from DoD comptroller, personnel and readiness and transportation organizations, as well the Per Diem, Travel, and Transportation Allowance Committee (PDTATAC) to resolve system implementation issues.
