Dwayne Barrs is an experienced trial attorney with a health law focus. He has conducted depositions, hearings and over 25 jury trials to verdict. Dwayne has a proven ability to translate complicated situations into clear, concise and persuasive arguments that advance client positions. Drawing on his experience as a public defender and an assistant general counsel, Dwayne understands how to harmonize business objectives with litigation strategy. He has been exposed to every aspect of litigation from multiple perspectives.Outside the courtroom, Dwayne helps clients minimize the risk of litigation. He has conducted internal investigations and advised healthcare professionals on critical compliance matters. Dwayne developed trainings, conducted HIPAA audits, and negotiated contracts, some of which involved multi-million dollar implementations. He previously served as the Chief Privacy Officer for a nationwide healthcare organization, and the HIPAA Privacy Officer for a county-wide healthcare organization.Dwayne has been recognized on the Best Lawyers in America Ones to Watch and the National Black Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 Lists.
