About Deborah Waressen
People often ask me why I transitioned from tech to digital marketing communications. The short answer is I realized I wasn\'t as interested in information systems as I thought, but there was more to it. I liked majoring in information systems, but at times I found it too technical with limited opportunity for creativity. That was until I took my first marketing class, Principles of Marketing Management, a mandatory course in the program. I found marketing not only technical and analytical but creative and thought-provoking. I went on to complete my degree in information systems as I had already taken many information systems courses. However, I knew that upon graduating, I wanted to expand on my interest in marketing. And so, I did this by obtaining my master\'s degree in digital marketing communications. With my knowledge of information systems and digital marketing communications, I utilize technical, analytical, and creative skills. From organization and web development to marketing coordination, I have a broad range of 2+ years of experience; working in B2B and B2C markets. I thrive in environments that challenge me to solve customers\' problems using digital marketing communications to track key performance indicators relevant to awareness, engagement, and retention. When I\'m not working 9-5, I teach English and French online to students across the globe. I am TEFL/TESOL certified and have 20+ years of experience studying the French language and culture. I have studied abroad in Québec and Paris and hope to visit other francophone territories. Nonetheless, my travel list expands beyond French-speaking destinations. I have traveled to: Jamaica, Louisiana, Puerto Rico, Florida, New York, Egypt, Italy, France, Ghana, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, and Canada. I am passionate about experiencing life from different perspectives, be it through travel, language exchange, or working in various markets. Feel free to reach out.
