About Devkumar B.

Howdy! I’m Devkumar Banerjee, a Computer Science major at Texas A&M University with a deep-rooted passion for the intersection of technology and medicine. Growing up in College Station as the child of immigrants, I became fascinated by how innovation can transform healthcare, a fascination that became personal after witnessing a family member’s struggle with a medical misdiagnosis during the COVID pandemic. This experience inspired me to dedicate my skills toward making healthcare more accessible and equitable. At Texas A&M, I’m pursuing studies in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Pre-Med with a particular focus on artificial intelligence in medicine. I’m driven by a desire to bridge engineering and healthcare, whether that means developing machine learning models to improve diagnosis or building user-friendly tools for researchers and clinicians. My academic journey is fueled by the belief that technology can solve real-world problems and truly change lives.Beyond the classroom, I find fulfillment in bringing people together around shared interests. Launching a club to make technology approachable, mentoring new coders, and volunteering to expand STEM access have all taught me that progress happens when we lift each other up. My research experiences—ranging from exploring new cancer treatments to building tools for scientists—have underscored the value of collaboration and creative problem-solving.Recently, I broadened my technical skillset through an internship with Lockheed Martin Enterprise Operations, collaborating with a team dedicated to maintaining the security and reliability of critical network infrastructure. This role not only strengthened my foundation in engineering and cybersecurity, but also helped me develop a mindset focused on anticipating and mitigating complex challenges. I’m excited to apply this perspective to medicine, whether it’s safeguarding patient data or contributing to the design of safer, more resilient medical technologies.Looking ahead, my goal is to become a physician who leverages engineering and computational tools to improve patient care and reduce health disparities. Texas A&M’s collaborative environment, world-class faculty, and commitment to research excellence are providing the foundation I need to pursue this vision. I’m eager to connect with others who share a passion for innovation in healthcare and to continue making a meaningful difference.
