Senior Principal Software Engineer Lead Architect - Automotive Performance & Ai Automation @Red Hat

View department →

Stuttgart, DE

As Senior Principal Engineer and Technical Lead, I drive performance excellence for Red Hat\'s automotive embedded OS. My leadership requires close partnership with major auto manufacturers to architect and validate highly complex, mixed-criticality solutions. This work is critical to delivering reliable, safe, and high-performance embedded systems compliant with the most stringent industry standards.• AI-Native Validation Strategy: Leveraged the Arcaflow ecosystem to pioneer AI-Native validation, adapting the engine to orchestrate complex hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing for heterogeneous automotive platforms (ARM64, Qualcomm, Renesas, NXP).• AI & Observability Innovation: Invented the Source-Domain MCP Architecture, a scalable pattern for AI-driven observability. Implemented the core components (domain-mcp-template) and deployed a full-scale production instance (rhivos-perfscale-mcp, horreum-mcp) to automate root-cause analysis for automotive OS regressions.• High-Scale Performance Engineering: Optimized Real-Time Linux (PREEMPT_RT) using ftrace, trace-cmd, and rtla to consistently meet strict <50µs deterministic latency targets for embedded control loops and high-load container workloads.• Workload Isolation & Security: Designed advanced container isolation strategies (cgroups/namespaces) to ensure Freedom-From-Interference (FFI) between mixed-criticality workloads.

ABOUT DUSTIN BLACK

I am a Systems Architect who lives at the intersection of High-Performance Computing and Scalable Infrastructure. Whether it’s a real-time kernel in a vehicle or a Kubernetes cluster handling massive data ingestion, my focus is the same: ensuring deterministic performance and absolute reliability under load.My foundation is deep Linux engineering. I specialize in diagnosing the micro-second latency spikes that kill system performance, having optimized schedulers and kernels for diverse hardware platforms—from embedded SoCs (Qualcomm, Renesas, NXP) to large-scale OpenShift clusters.I believe that modern complexity cannot be managed with legacy scripting. I pioneer AI-Native Automation strategies. I invented the Source-Domain MCP Architecture—a scalable pattern for AI-driven observability—and architected Arcaflow (GitHub: arcalot), a container-based workflow engine. I use these tools to turn massive telemetry logs into instant engineering insights. I don\'t just find bottlenecks; I build the autonomous systems that detect them.I am looking for a technical leadership role where I can combine deep systems engineering with modern AI-driven automation to build self-healing, high-performance infrastructure.
