About Duncan Oteki

I\'m in my third year at the University of North Dakota studying for my Ph.D. in civil engineering. I plan to complete my studies by the Fall of 2024. I have worked on various civil and structural projects in the field and design office. Specifically, after my undergraduate training, I worked as a site engineer supervising the contractor\'s work on two sites, a parking silo, and a four-story residential building. I acted as a liaison between the client and the contractor and assisted in interpreting the working drawings. I later worked as a civil engineer where I was involved in the design, estimation, and supervision of various residential buildings. Most notable was the design of a proposed warehouse where I was part of a team that designed the structural elements, the access road, stormwater, and foul sewer drainage. I have participated in the Engineers Without Borders (EWB) chapter of UND where I was involved in the design of a small-scale water distribution system for Guatemala. During my free time, I enjoy attending sports events, especially basketball and volleyball, I also enjoy fishing. I\'m a first learner and team player seeking a challenging civil or structural position in a consultancy firm.
