ABOUT DUNCAN HOGG

Dr Duncan Hogg, Consultant Cardiologist, qualified in medicine at the University of Aberdeen in 1994, and in 1997 he became a Member of the Royal College of Phyisicians. Dr Hogg received his general cardiology training at Aberdeen Royal Infimary and completed specialist training in Cardiology & General Internal Medicine (GIM) in 2007, being awarded CCST by the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board. Dr Hogg has Specialist Registration with the GMC for Cardiology & GIM. Prior to taking up his permanent Consultant post he was a fellow in interventional cardiology at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, Canada, where he had intensive specialist training in all aspects of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Dr Hogg was also a British Heart Foundation sponsored junior research fellow, during which time he closely studied coagulation platelet activity changes in patients with atrial fibrillation pre- and post electrical cardioversion.Dr Hogg took up his permanent position as a Consultant Cardiologist at Aberdeen Royal Infimary in April 2009. He practises in general cardiology with a sub-speciality interest in PCI. In private practise at Albyn Hospital Dr Hogg routinely sees patients with a wide range of known cardiac problems, including; angina, heart failure, valvular heart disease and arrythmmias; and, for investigation of symptoms from potential ones, including: chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations and collapse. Dr Hogg also routinely sees patients for perioperative cardiac assessment and for evaluation of occupational implications of cardiac disease. Dr Hogg is committed in all aspects of his practise to providing the highest standards of patient care and communication.
