About Duncan Griffin
As Director of Sustainability, Health for HDR, I focus on helping Healthcare clients achieve Regenerative Design outcomes while developing integrated cross-disciplinary solutions to meet the challenging conditions of our time.Our clients include Scripps Health, Del Puerto Health System, MD Anderson, the Department of Veterans Affairs, US Army Corps of Engineers, the University of Washington Medical Center, and Harborview Medical Center.My previous work included projects with Kaiser Permanente at their flagship hospital in Oakland, California; University of California Irvine Medical Center in Orange, CA; the University of Washington Medical Center on their Montlake Tower; and NeighborCare Health on the Meridian Center for Health in North Seattle. I have also designed a number of facilities, including Overlake Hospital\'s South Campus Expansion Bed Tower. Independent of my clients, I have worked with the Integrated Design Lab (UW) in Seattle to research ideal solutions for energy reduction in hospitals, on a study entitled Targeting 100, specifically targeted to meet the Architecture 2030 Challenge. I have spoken at a number of conferences regarding these innovations. Our most recent research includes the use of Building Science tools to align our facilities with patient comfort and safer conditions for healing.
