About Dulce Pamela Hernandez

Growing up in South Central, Los Angeles, I studied at Alliance Piera Barbaglia Shaheen Health Services Academy High School where I did research at the University of Southern California (USC) through their research programs for high school students. I studied with Girls Who Code (GWC) peers through their programs, including their Summer Immersion Program and Self-Paced Programs, earning a total of three certifications whilst studying web development and the programming language Python. Additionally, I expanded my knowledge on COVID-19\'s impact on my community through the paid opportunity offered by the UCLA Youth Task Force program by The Los Angeles Trust for Children\'s Health. Now, I am studying Biology-Health Sciences at Oregon Tech with a full ride; thank you, Bill Gates! I am researching in the Biotechnology Research (BTR) Lab alongside Dr. Rachel Edwards and other peers where I am creating a Serotonin Electrochemical Sensor that has won an award and received grants for funding this project. I am involved with the Latino Club on campus, apart of the Society of Women Engineers, and the Honors Program.My future goals and aspirations include but are never just limited to earning my Ph.D. and M.D. in Neuroscience. I intend to do research for the rest of my life. I dedicate my hard work to helping the underprivileged and advancing science. I intend to continuously extend what I can to my community.

   Nov 2024 — Present

   Matriculate is a college-advising tool promoted for high-achieving, low-income high school juniors and seniors to aid them in the process of applying to college. We work with these scholars year-round.Advising Fellow to three High School Fellows (class of 2026). Uplifting by guiding my High School Fellows through applying to college, scholarships, FAFSA, etc. as I make this small contribution to their wonderful academic journeys.
