   Microsoft office is the most popular productivity software in the world and I am part of the Office Telemetry team responsible for delivering systems and solutions needed to better understand usage and health of office products. Working with group of talented engineers in my team I am accountable for developing and running various backend services used for data ingress and insight generation for Office applications running on Android, iOS, Mac and Windows. My team focuses on building large scale data processing pipeline that can horizontally scale to meet the growing need from our product teams for faster insight to make data informed decisions. Today we collect and process 4M+ events per second at peak and 230B+ events daily. My team is also responsible for developing solutions that provide near real time insight, alerting and diagnostics capability. In addition to providing insight on the telemetry data we ingress into our systems, we also make the data readily available for partner teams to consume in their own monitoring and telemetry services through our pub/sub infrastructure. My responsibility as engineering manager in the team includes providing technical direction and vision, help define projects, perform project scoping, attracting and retaining top talent, provide mentoring and training opportunity to increase the efficiency of the team as well as conduct employee evaluation.
