About Leslie Duke

I am the chair and CEO of Burns & McDonnell. Previously, as group president and general manager in the firm\'s South Central Region, I led Burns & McDonnell’s largest and fastest-growing regional office in the nation. I joined Burns & McDonnell in as a project manager and structural engineer in electrical transmission and distribution. I went on to lead the group in Houston and become a vice president in 2007. In 2010, I opened the firm’s regional office in Dallas-Fort Worth, where I served as general manager, before returning to Houston in 2012 as regional manager. I became a senior vice president in 2014. My focus on client service, quality work and talented personnel has made Burns & McDonnell the engineering consultant of choice in Texas. Under my leadership, Burns & McDonnell launched engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services in Texas, which resulted in the development and successful execution of more than 100 multi-million dollar projects. I am credited with expanding Burns & McDonnell’s customer base from one to more than 100 clients in the industrial, refining, chemical, manufacturing and utility markets.My ability to identify and develop emerging leadership talent, as well as foster a sound organizational culture has led to various best place to work recognitions and extremely skilled employees. Both Texas Monthly and the Houston Chronicle have repeatedly acknowledged Burns & McDonnell as a best employer in Texas. A native of Texas, I hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Texas Tech University. I am a registered professional engineer in Texas.I spend my spare time with family. My husband and I are active in our church, and we enjoy many activities together, including four wheeling, music and travel.
