ABOUT DUANE S. RISSER

I am starting the next phase of my life by being able to go where I feel I have been called, healthcare! As I start my nursing career, it\'s very important to remember how I got where I am. I have always been involved in helping others in some form or another, and God has opened this new door for me to serve. I can\'t wait to see what lies ahead!My experience in workplace and public safety began as a volunteer firefighter for 7 years. That led to me joining the Emergency Response Team at work while also serving as a Site Emergency Coordinator and Safety Champion. I was honored to serve my community as a volunteer fireman, a deputy coroner for 8 years, and as an Emergency Medical Technician for 33+ years. Being a public servant taught me many skills that I have been able to utilize within my various leadership roles. Remaining calm in tough situations while applying active listening and patience are key assets I’ve been able to incorporate into my leadership.As a passionate staff coach with warm communication skills, my background in training began by working directly with my own teams. From there, I was hand-picked to help develop and deliver company-wide training content for high level programs, including Cummins’ corporate technical organization implementation of Team Based Work Systems. Eventually, I earned multiple trainer/facilitator certifications which helped me better facilitate TBWS training, not only at our US sites, but also in the UK and India. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to travel and am ready and willing to do so again. I also have much experience teaching outside of the workplace such as with the American Red Cross and other public safety functions.Leading continuous improvement projects and developing innovative solutions to solve problems are what I do best. Whether I’m applying my expertise across project management or facilitating training that ensures safety and develops future leaders, I’m the person people count on to get the job done. My project management and Six Sigma skills generated $70M+ in new sales and $4.5M+ in savings for Cummins Inc.I am interested in connecting with former co-workers, professional acquaintances, and any organization/business that shares my passion for servant leadership, who also combines productivity, collaboration, innovation, and camaraderie to achieve results.
