ABOUT DANIEL CROMPTON
With around 20 years of experience in the UK civil engineering and rail industries, I’ve led commercial management on major infrastructure projects while steadily shifting focus toward digital innovation, automation, and systems thinking. I hold MScs in Quantity Surveying & Commercial Management and in Computer Science & AI, combining industry depth with technical fluency. In my current role as Managing Quantity Surveyor for a Tier 1 contractor, I’m involved in BAM’s AI Community of Practice, ED & I working group, and sustainability initiatives. I\'m particularly drawn to conversations around how we structure and use data; not just to optimise delivery, but to challenge the assumptions underpinning how and why we build.I also lead a blockchain-based digital art-focused start-up, and have launched multiple creative coding projects. My generative work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Cardano Summit in Lausanne and cNFTcon, and is on permanent display at the Cardano Hotel Ginerba in Barcelona.Increasingly, I’m motivated by a deeper interest in the interconnectedness of natural systems, especially within biodiversity, mycology, and systems biology. I see a need for more radically ecological thinking, and I’m exploring how to apply my skills in tech, data, and design in ways that support environmental complexity rather than suppress it.
