About David Syke

Military veteran driven by my passion for technology, positive outlook and customer-first approach, I’ve acquired a history for quickly assessing the problem, collaborating across work groups, and producing exceptional results. As a collaborative business and technology leader I bring years of hands-on IT expertise, budget and project management skills, transform complex problems into cost-effective solutions. I have mastered the art of joining hardware, software, policy formation and governance around best practices that lead to the new efficiencies that technology unleashes. In short, I lead teams on a mission to make technology work for the user. Leadership is more than imposing will, it incorporates empathy, service, identifying needs, trust, empowerment, planning, and the ability to motivate. The Army taught me well and my experiences since have honed those fundamental principles that provide that intuitive ability to integrate diverse individuals into a team with common purpose. Expertise in technology is the second pillar that allows me to exercise my leadership in a way that helps my teams be successful. I also apply Agile and user-centered practices to guide my teams and focus on performance improvement. One of the key transitions I’ve made for myself is learning to cultivate and apply fiscal awareness to bring transparency, improve financial performance, and merge the data to develop better solutions that trim operating costs and increase capabilities. Here are a few accomplishments that underscore my IT leadership and operational excellence. Drove a Cross-Divisional CAPA Initiative to Close 37 Audit Findings and Prevent Future SAP Outages. Accountable for Global Deployment of Network SD-WAN at 140+ Sites. Led a labor worker development program to create IT career opportunities, received a CIO award. Transformed Obsolete On-premise Backup Appliances to a Cloud Model to Avoid 2.5M in Tech Debt. Took Ownership of $75M IT Budget and Created Understanding for Spend Across the Division.
