About Zoya McCants
I am a professor, licensed psychotherapist, and author specializing in trauma-informed reproductive and perinatal mental health care. My work sits at the intersection of trauma/complex trauma, polyvagal theory, women’s mental health, and reproductive life transitions, with particular attention to infertility, pregnancy and postpartum experiences, reproductive loss, and identity-shaping moments across the reproductive journey. As the Founder and CEO of Right To Heal, LLC, I provide clinical care, consultation, and education grounded in evidence-based and culturally responsive frameworks. My clinical approach integrates trauma-informed care, cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based interventions, somatic awareness, and narrative practices to support individuals and families navigating complex emotional and relational experiences. In addition to my clinical work, I am an educator, researcher, and professional leader committed to advancing training, supervision, and scholarship in reproductive mental health and trauma-responsive counseling practice. I currently serve as President-Elect of NARACES, where I support initiatives that strengthen counselor education, ethical supervision, and reproductive mental health competencies across the profession.I hold licensure in New York State (LMHC) and New Jersey and Pennsylvania (LPC), and maintain active engagement with professional counseling organizations. Across all roles, my work is guided by a commitment to healing, integrity, and the belief that reproductive and mental health care must be both clinically rigorous and deeply humane.
