About William J. Harb
I\'m a colorectal surgeon in private practice in Nashville. I\'ve been here since 2006 and can honestly say that I really enjoy my job. Daily, I care for patients with life-threatening illnesses such as colon and rectal cancer; Yet, I also care for patients with more common problems, such as hemorrhoids and other anorectal issues. Preventing colon cancer is one my greatest goals. Prevention is vital to stamping out colon cancer, which is why informing people of the need for prevention is one of my greatest messages. I enjoy the challenge of helping to eliminate colorectal cancer! While many physicians in private practice become less involved with the academic side of medicine, I have not. I\'m an Associate Editor of Diseases of the Colon and Rectum, one of the premier journals in the field of colon and rectal surgery. I\'m on the board of Lynch Syndrome International, a non-profit organization involved in raising awareness about the most common type of inherited colorectal cancer. As a specialist in colorectal diseases, I\'m involved in the medicolegal process with a busy medicolegal practice and as an expert witness. And I stay involved with my professional society and serve as Vice-Chairman of the Healthcare Economics subcommittee of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
