Release of hospital health records and information processing according to Ontario’s PHIPA Act.(Legal, Insurance companies, Continuum of care, Ministry, RCMP, CPSO, Personal requests, subpoena, court orders, etc.) I started a ready to go pick up service for urgent requests (where they can wait at the department and get their requested records instantly), which overall decreased the turn over time for all requests. • Proficiently worked for Collection, Use, Disclosure and Retention of health records (confidential and sensitive personal health information). Assisted patients with accessing their protected health information (PHI) by copying, printing or providing assistance. Assumes role of patient advocate when assisting patients with health information issues.• Provide assistance and support with the correction requests, individual complaints, inquiries regarding hospital privacy policies and maintenance of electronic and paper records.• Judge the legitimacy of each request and determine whether or not information can be released. Release psychiatric and other “super confidential” information in accordance with PHIPA privacy law regarding sensitive information. Check properly signed authorization to release health information.• Calculate fees as per OMA’s guidelines and send invoices to lawyers, insurance companies and others for their request of records. Accurately enters all requests into the Release of Information log in Meditech to account for all PHI disclosures. This lead to increase in revenue generation from the department. • Participates in drafting/revision creation of departmental privacy handling policies and procedures
