ABOUT SAMUEL CHINDARO

I am a holder of a PhD in Electronics (Kent), MSc in Electronics and IT(University of Birmingham) and a B. Eng Hons in Electronics (National University of Science and Technology) with 15 years professional experience, with 8 of these spent working as a Power Systems Engineer with National Grid. I am also a Chartered Engineer, and MIET and a trained IET Mentor. I have been working at the Electricity National Control Centre, firstly as a Transmission Despatch Engineer and currently as a Transmission Security Engineer. These roles have equipped me with skills in power system analysis, including load flow, contingency, stability and fault-level analysis using relevant offline and real-time tools (SCADA, EMS, Power System and Analysis Software tools - online and offline). I am also experienced in carrying out real time switching of the powers system to facilitate system access. I am also trained in handling non-standard events such as system black start, demand control, emergency procedures (such as evacuation) and have managed post-fault events. In these roles I had to familiarise and work in collaboration with the energy department (and spend time attached to role) among others in the control room and I am therefore familiar with the process of economically dispatching generators. I have gained a lot of experience and possess analytical research skills through my academic training and work as a Research Associate at the University of Kent where I led three successful projects, one of which was a multi-national EU project in which I occupied a central role. This role also gave me a lot of international exposure. I also have experience of project management in instrumentation and control which exposed me to various industries. I am willing to accept challenges and I believe I have the academic ability and professional experience to make a significant contribution to a forward looking company.
