Experience

I was hired to see children with 50% of the FTE for nonsurgical musculoskeletal challenges. I also was to write new programs inpatient and outpatient for children. I wrote and was accepted a mTBI outpatient program for high speed injuries and sports related injury. We have seen a large number of Children with concussion, mTBI, and complicated mTBI. This involves P.T, O.T. and Speech. It has 2.5 FTE dedicated to the program with vestibular, vision, and traditional rehab. I have also written research proposal for advanced MRI, stem cell transfusion, and vision assessment for children with mTBI based on solid evidence based literature. The program is busy and growing with a developing referral system that I have developed by school visits, teacher/parent group participation, and grant rounds to pediatric and ER training programs. Also written and submitted programs in pediatric chronic pain, feeding disorder, and traditional rehabilitation for pediatrics s/p hemisperectomy/rhizotomy, and orthopedic injury have been completed. Tying this picture together is a 16 bed in patient rehabilitation center to be submitted solidifying the programs submitted from inpatient to day hospital through outpatient. The programs are based on evidence based literature, cost effective, and comprehensive through a pediatric physiatric model with behavioral component when needed.
