ABOUT RACHEL STOCKER

I am an experienced and ambitious lecturer in health psychology, with interests in diabetes, health and exercise interventions, and progressive health conditions, alongside advanced qualitative methodology.I am a British Psychological Society Chartered Psychologist and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.I have expertise in qualitative and mixed methods, am a skilled systematic reviewer and have experience of clinical trial design and management.I have received research funding from NIHR, the Wellcome Trust, Innovate UK, EPSRC, ATTAIN, and the BPS, amongst other funders.I have expertise in leading patient & public involvement in research, developing novel methods of involvement, and mentoring other researchers.I have experience of teaching health and exercise psychology, behavioural science, and research methods to students ranging from 1st year undergraduate to PhD level.I won the Newcastle University Student Union \'Outstanding Contribution to Academic Support Award\' in 2025.I have experience of undergraduate and postgraduate supervision including successful PhD supervision and examination. I currently supervise seven PhD students.I have managed a number of multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional projects, and have written Parliamentary briefings.Other internal and external roles include - Theme Co-Deputy for the Newcastle University Centre of Research Excellence in BehaviourTeaching and Training Co-Lead for the Newcastle University Qualitative Special Interest GroupStage 2 Sport & Exercise Sciences LeadEquality, Diversity and Inclusion representative for Sport & Exercise Sciences.Stage 1 PEC committee lead for Sport & Exercise Sciences. I am also a member of the Newcastle University Social Justice Advisory Group, a grant reviewer for Diabetes UK, a consultant for Darlington Football Club Foundation, and I have acted as an internal and external examiner for doctoral vivas.I\'m very happy to be approached about collaboration opportunities.
