About Maria Whitworth
Marketing and communications specialist for 30+ years with expertise in brand management, community engagement, event coordination, and digital media strategy. I am honored to be part of the FARFA team since early 2024, helping increase our advocacy and support of small independent farmers and local food producers nationwide. From 20••••24, I directed Marketing & Advertising at Edible Dallas Fort Worth magazine, writing and editing with a focus on local food and stories of small-scale farms. Prior to EDFW, I was one of 3 staff responsible for Regional Marketing & Community Engagement for Whole Foods Market in the Dallas/Fort Worth region. Personally, I served 3 terms in public service on the Council of Weston, Texas, where I continue to advocate for local food systems, wildlife protection, green stormwater infrastructure, healthy soil management, and water conservation. Holding a special love for local, sustainable initiatives that support small growers, ranchers, and food producers, you’ll find me fostering collaborations and advocating for sustainable food systems at many Texas events, and can also find me cooking up local goodness in my own family\'s kitchen.
