ABOUT OSEI ASIBEY OWUSU.
Osei is a medical doctor with demonstrated experience as general practitioner, and currently undertaking a PhD in Medical Studies at the University of Exeter, supervised by Professor Jane Masoli, Dr Joao Correa Delgado, and Professor Angela Shore. His doctoral research applies a big data approach using large-scale cohort studies and electronic health records to investigate cardiovascular frailty and multiple long-term conditions in ageing populations. He employs longitudinal data modelling and blood pressure trajectory analysis to better understand and differentiate blood pressure phenotypes in later life, with the overarching aim of improving population health outcomes. Alongside his PhD, Osei works NHIR Diabetes Exeter with extension to NIHR BioResource on the Improving Black Health Outcomes (IBHO) initiative, a research programme dedicated to understanding and addressing health conditions disproportionately affecting people of African heritage. He is also a Postgraduate Teaching Associate, contributing to teaching in the Methods in Neuroscience and Professional Skills modules within the MSc Neuroscience and Advanced Biological Sciences programmes. Osei serves as a peer reviewer for the Age and Ageing journal and is an active member of professional communities including the European Geriatric Medicine Society (Cardiovascular and Big Data Special Interest Groups) and the British and Irish Hypertension Society Early Career Researchers network.Before UK, Osei obtained an MSc Public Health for Development at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine-London under the prestigious Commonwealth Shared Scholar, and Currently pursuing a PhD in Medical Sciences. Keys skills obtained both working and schooling are as follows Clinical and surgical skills in internal medicine. paediatrics, general surgery and obstetrics and gynaecology. Expert in designing disease control programs, evaluation of public health intervention, statistical methods in epidemiology, and Epidemiology.Osei also worked on high level research programs such as the RTSS Malaria Vaccine Trial, and Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine Effectiveness in Ghana (TyVeGHA) as a site physician. Osei is goal driven with strong leadership skills, a healthcare activist and an advocate for good health system, policies, and health equity. He is assionate about public and global health mostly on health intervention programs seeking to improve on health practice.
