ABOUT MUHAMMAD NASEER AKHTAR CMBE
I am the Associate Dean Research and Knowledge Exchange at the College of Leadership and Innovation, Buckinghamshire New University, UK, with over 20 years of academic and professional experience spanning higher education, consulting, and the banking sector. Most recently, as Interim Director of Research and REF2029 Lead, I have developed research strategies, secured funding, industry engagement, and established impactful collaborations that enhance the institutional reputation. My research interests include employee sensemaking and social perspective based on social exchanges for employee-employer relations in organisations. Similarly, I conduct research on employees in three major areas: organisational change and strategy, employees’ attitude and behaviour, and psychological contracts. First stream of research focuses on organisational change and strategy, examines the employees’ perspective through the lens of sense-making of post-major organisational change time and its effects on employees’ behavioral responses, with a primary focus on how being perceived as an underdog can influence the energy and effort that employees have invested, and be influenced by post-organisational change impact. The second research area, employee behaviour and psychological contracts, examines the central interest in how employees behave positively and negatively during and after major organisational changes and how their psychological contracts are influenced, i.e, perceived fulfilment of organisational obligations. My work has been recognized with prestigious fellowships (FCIPD, FHEA, CMBE) and editorial leadership roles in high-ranked journals. What sets me apart is the ability to bridge academic insight and practical business solutions. I have led HR consulting projects with global organizations, designed people analytics tools for workforce transformation, and advised international universities on curriculum and partnership development. I bring a global perspective, with career experience in the UK, Pakistan, China, and beyond, underpinned by a prolific research record (25+ publications, WoS/ABS journals).Beyond academia, I am passionate about making research accessible and understandable to a broader audience. My YouTube channel, ‘Research Compass303’, has over subscribers and over on TikTok worldwide, supporting early-career researchers with modern research methods. With strong networks across academia and industry, I thrive on mentoring, knowledge exchange, and driving meaningful impact in HR, people analytics, and higher education leadership.
