About Mehri Moore

Mehri Moore, MD, is the founder and Chief Medical Director of THIRA Health, a therapeutic center for women and girls in Bellevue, Washington. She completed her residency in general psychiatry at the University of Washington Medical Center and received her medical training at the University of Tehran, Iran. Dr. Moore is a board-certified adult psychiatrist, a Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and a member of the Academy for Eating Disorders and the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals. She is a certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist trained at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic, University of Pennsylvania Child Psychiatry Division.In 1991, Dr. Moore pioneered family-centric therapy model for the treatment of eating disorders, founding The Moore Center for Eating Disorders in Seattle, Washington. For her innovative leadership of The Moore Center, Dr. Moore was honored as a Semi-Finalist in Ernst & Young’s 2014 Entrepreneur of the Year awards. Dr. Moore recognized a need for therapies focused on skill-building for girls and women experiencing disordered eating and other symptoms of anxiety and depression. In 2016, following her departure from The Moore Center, she founded THIRA Health, a treatment center exclusively for women and girls who struggle with anxiety and depression. THIRA uses Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to teach patients new strategies to help them more effectively cope with painful and at times overwhelming emotions, as well as urges to engage in counterproductive behaviors.In four years, THIRA Health grew from a small staff of five to more than 65 employees at the end of 2020 and is now a thriving therapeutic center that has served nearly adolescents and adults. THIRA’s multifaceted model of care reflects its mission to achieve sustainable, whole-person recovery by providing a pathway for emotional, physical, and psychological wellbeing. Through cohort-based therapies, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and expressive programs that include art therapy, movement therapy, and yoga, THIRA addresses the root causes of dysfunction and empowers girls and women to embrace health, balance, and peace.
