This includes the study historical figures to illuminate issues related to access and equity associated with culture, ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and ability. Ways to advocate for policies and practices inclusive of all individuals while recognizing diversity as an asset in an educational setting is explored (5 credits). ED740: Ethics and Accountability in LeadershipDuring this course, you will evaluate the impact of policies and practices in educational settings for their ethical implications on diverse stakeholders. You will identify various stakeholders\' ethical issues. Based on these findings, you will design accountability measures that are inclusive of multiple, diverse perspectives (5 credits). ED780: Creativity, Innovation, and Intrapreneurship in EducationIn this course, you will explore innovative approaches in education that promote creativity in leadership. You will analyze how intrapreneurship develop and implement innovations in educational systems. You will also examine opportunities within educational systems that promote environments conducive to intrapreneurship and innovation. This course will focus on designing creative and innovative solutions to challenges in various educational settings (5 credits).

ABOUT MASSIEL PEREZ-CALHOON

Massiel Perez-Calhoon Ed.D, has been an instructor in higher education since 2012. She has taught courses in education and leadership at the undergraduate, graduate, and post graduate levels. Some courses include: Research and Evaluation Methods; Seminar in Comparative Education - Equity and Equality; Culture, Diversity, and Educational Equity; Seminar in the Social Foundations of Education; Seminar in Curriculum Studies; Student Success Strategies, Ethics and Accountability in Leadership and, Spanish: Culture and Language for Healthcare Professionals. Prior to this, Dr. Perez-Calhoon taught K-12 in the public-school sector. As a published author, Dr. Perez-Calhoon stays relevant in her field of topics such as: health, wellness, self-care, and workplace wellness programs. Her research includes health and wellness priorities as they relate to personal grit and mindset; self-efficacy/collective efficacy and barriers to participation in workplace wellness programs, and self-care priorities to thrive in life. Dr. Perez-Calhoon earned a Doctor of Education in organizational leadership from the University of Massachusetts, Global. She holds a master’s in teaching, bachelor’s in psychology and social behavior, bachelor’s in Spanish and a minor in education from the University of California, Irvine (UCI). Most recently she received her certified with National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) as a Certified Wellness Coach. Dr. Perez-Calhoon is also the founder of @dowellatbeingyou. Her focus is to facilitate sustainable change in mindset and behaviors to support self-care practices to thrive in life. Her goal is to teach you, your employees or organization how to use evidence-based tools and processes designed to help facilitate change and growth. “By changing behaviors and one’s mindset, one gains the confidence and conviction to put themselves first to ensure physical and mental wellbeing to thrive” (Perez-Calhoon, 2020). As a wife, mother, and career woman, Dr. Perez-Calhoon finds time to support her community through philanthropic efforts as a member the Board of Directors for Extraordinary Lives Foundation (ELF) to support children\'s mental health. Aside from all of this work she enjoys quality time with family, staycations, training and participating in triathlons, and volunteering in her daughters classroom.
