About Maria Espinola
Dr. Maria Espinola is a Harvard-trained psychologist and a leading expert in trauma. Dr. Espinola conducts comprehensive forensic psychological evaluations, provides attorney consultations, and serves as an expert witness in civil, family, criminal, and federal immigration cases. During her academic career, Dr. Espinola held affiliations with three medical schools (University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Boston University School of Medicine, and Harvard Medical School). While in academia, she engaged in research, teaching, mentoring/supervision, and clinical care, focusing on the psychological consequences of trauma and victimization.As the CEO of the Institute for Health Equity and Innovation, Dr. Espinola provides vision, leadership and strategic planning for the development and implementation of health equity and trauma-informed initiatives in multifaceted organizations. She has a record of successful collaboration with leaders across universities, Fortune 100 companies, non-profit organizations and the three branches of government.Dr. Espinola has authored numerous publications and has earned over 25 awards. She has been a consultant for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and a technical expert for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
