ABOUT SELINA L. MANGASSARIAN
Dr. Mangassarian is a licensed clinical psychologist in California (PSY 30847) and New Mexico (PSY 1515). With over a decade of experience, clinical training, and scholarly research publications, Dr. Mangassarian has extensive experience evaluating neurodevelopmental, neuropsychiatric, and neurological diseases in geriatric, adult, and juvenile populations. Her specialties in med-legal neuropsychological evaluations include personal injury claims, fitness for duty evaluations, and disability claims. Her expertise in pre-surgical evaluations stem from her original research in identifying the limitations of current pre-surgical evaluation procedures, especially for bariatric weight loss surgery. Dr. Mangassarian also specializes in criminal forensic neuropsychological evaluations regarding competency to stand trial, amenability to treatment, risk assessment, specific intent, and insanity referrals. She has been retained as an expert witness for criminal and med-legal cases for both applicant and defense attorneys for her impartial, evidence-based evaluations. Dr. Mangassarian earned her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University, a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). She also upholds an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University. Prior to her doctoral level education and training, Dr. Mangassarian earned an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy and B.A. in Psychology from the University of Southern California. Dr. Mangassarian’s prior pre-doctoral clinical training includes neuropsychology appointments at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, UCLA and LA Valley College Services for Students with Disabilities, Huntington Hospital Department of Epilepsy and Brain Mapping, and the Children, Youth, and Family Services Consortium. She completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at VA Sierra Nevada Healthcare System where she provided extensive neuropsychological testing, cognitive remediation group treatment, and behavioral medicine consultations to Veterans and their loved ones. Following her internship, Dr. Mangassarian completed a two-year clinical and forensic neuropsychological fellowship at the Neuropsychological Services of New Mexico, in conjunction with the University of New Mexico and Raymond G. Murphey VA Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM. With her education and training, Dr. Mangassarian is currently an American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) eligible candidate in Clinical Neuropsychology.
