About Larry Johnson
Dr. Larry Johnson, Founder and CEO of EdFutures, a US-based 501(c)3 not-for-profit with a focus on education across the globe is looking for ways to help community colleges, universities, not-for-profits, and foundations restore the educational capacity lost in the pandemic. An internationally recognized futurist for more than 20 years, Johnson continuously charts new ideas and emerging technologies, looking for those that could have far-reaching impact on learning - and especially those with high potential for positive disruption or strategic advantage. A noted speaker, writer, and visionary, Johnson is an acknowledged expert on technology\'s impacts on society and education. He delivered more than 250 keynote addresses to a long list of distinguished groups and organizations all over the world and authored over 100 influential papers and reports on emerging technologies and related strategies. In 2015, he was named as one of the \"Top 50 Influencers\" on education across the Asia Pacific region. He served as the CEO of the NMC, where he founded the Horizon Project. He served with distinction as director of that globally recognized effort which produced the acclaimed series of Horizon Reports that were used by over 5 million educators annually in 195 countries.Having served as president and senior executive at institutions in both the higher education and not-for-profit realms, he brings a wealth of experience to the projects and roles he undertakes. He has served in campus positions from professor to dean, CIO and provost, and president. His educational background includes an MBA in Finance and a Ph.D. in Education that focused on research and evaluation. Among much other recognition, Dr. Johnson has been honored as a Distinguished Graduate by his alma mater, the University of Texas at Austin.
