About Joshua Walker
As the President and CEO of the Japan Society, I lead a century-old institution that promotes mutual understanding and collaboration between the United States and Japan through innovative programs in arts, culture, education, and policy. I have more than 20 years of experience in international business diplomacy, specializing in East Asia and Eurasia.I am passionate about fostering cross-cultural dialogue, strengthening strategic partnerships, and advancing global leadership. I have served in various roles in the private sector, the US government, and the think tank community, where I have developed expertise in political risk, strategic communications, public affairs, and foreign policy. I hold a PhD in Politics and Public Policy from Princeton University, a MA in International Relations from Yale University, and a BA in Leadership Studies from the University of Richmond. I am a recovering academic and diplomat that has been a Transatlantic Fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, a National Security Fellow at the Truman National Security Project, Inaugural Young Society Leader at the American Turkish Society, International Affairs Fellow of the Council on Foreign Relations, David Rockefeller Fellow of the Trilateral Commission, and Presidential Leadership Scholar. I speak Japanese, Turkish, Dutch and English.
