After being the founder and driving force in RJFOX \"the best man you never heard\" according to David Crosby, Joel begin work on his first solo album called Sideshow in 1985. He asked his producer Stephen Barncard to help him put together a band for the project Stephen recruited a number of top line players to work with Joel on Sideshow including lead guitarist Zeke Zirngiebel, drummer Rick Shlosser, and bassist Cliff Hugo Recording at original A&M Studios. they just \"clicked\" and rocked so hard that Stephen remarked they were really \"in the pocket\" That\'s how they got the name and their chemistry is so strong they\'ve continued to play and record together over the next 30 years on all of Joel\'s albums, including Sideshow, Starcrossed, Reunited, Unfinished Business, Pink, Hotel, and now RockRoll30 Along the way well known musician Terry Lesperance replaced Rick on drums and percussion and the band added Rick Solem on keyboards, completing a dynamite rock ensemble Now, on RockRoll30 the Pocket Band presents some of its finest tracks with the additional five new songs never previously released! This project showcases the band in all its magical artistry honed over 3 decades of fierce commitment to the music, letting them rock it in some unforgettable musical moments
